Did you see Cloverfield? I’m sorry.
It was by far the silliest, most pointless monster movie I have seen in many years…and I love monster movies.
S Peter Davis has a total rundown of the movie in a very non-spoiler kinda of way. Trust me, other than some cool CGI, this description pretty much sums it up.
